Vegetarian Diet
In parallel with the old Hippocrates saying, we truly strive to let our food be our medicine on the farm. Our meal plan is exclusively vegetarian and we firmly ask that visitors do not bring meat and or meat products onto the property. Our chefs and Farm to Table program do a wonderful job of making the vegetarian diet diverse and oh-so-delicious. During your internship, you'll be served unique breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes throughout the work week. Should you decide to spend your weekend on the property, we will provide staple food, like mac & cheese, ramen noodles, bean and rice and fruits.
From The Farm
You can expect that we'll be sourcing as much of our diet as possible from the farm. However, while we would love to be eating 100% farm-based for every meal, the reality is that were not quite there yet. The farm is still young, but every semester, with the help from folks like you, we get one step closer. So what will you be eating? Papaya, Banana, Cassava, Turmeric, Pineapple, Passion fruit, Plantains, Ginger, Squash, Pigeon Pea, Lemons, Limes, Soursop, Eggplant, Hawaiian Chili Pepper, Jalepeños, Bell Peppers, Sapote, Lychee, Starfruit, Surinam Cherry, Acerola, Bilimbi, Ti, Hibiscus, Bamboo, Purple Sugar cane and more. Please note a few of the fruits mentioned above are only available at the farm when they are in season.
Locally Sourced
We are proactively seeking to build our supplemental sources by working with local farms and farmers markets. Currently, we purchase from farmers markets in Hamakua, Waimea, and Hilo.
