Working with Sheep, Cattle, Horses and local species including the preparation, clearing and cleaning of animal areas, feeding and monitoring of water supply, and overseeing the general well-being of all animals on property as well as managing rotation, shelter and working with orchard and farm manager to mitigate invasive species.

- Ensure that every intern has an exceptional project, presentation, and PDF to submit to Big Island Farms at the end of each semester

- Facilitate regular reading discussions, guest speaker visits, and skill shares
- Promote and facilitate individual and team leadership skills
- Ensure all farm to table interns are completing well-written, relevant weekly blogs
- Facilitate farm to table curriculum in a manner consistent with Big Island Farms standards and expectations
- Direct initial independent project development in a manner that ensures the pursuit of projects that are relevant to the Big Island Farms mission and vision
- Regularly meets with interns to ensure continuous program and venue satisfaction
- Actively oversee all independent farm to table projects in a manner that promotes satisfactory completion of project goals
- Encourage and facilitate intern participation in inter-program projects, special events, and activities

To oversee the development and completion of intern projects, and successfully completing a director-led project each semester that significantly advances Big Island Farms and the agriculture program. To work in tandem with the Farm Manager in maintaining the existing farm and implement new productive agricultural systems. To collaborate with other programs to ensure we are always progressing the farm, connecting people and creating new economic opportunities at Big Island Farms.
- BA or BS in a field relevant to agriculture or land management
- Permaculture Design Certification
- 2+ years experience working on organic/permaculture farms and gardens
- Physically fit: ability to lift 50 lbs, work in extreme hot weather/rain
