A Few Words About Me
Jon Feil is the latest addition to our Big Island Farms Ohana.
Born and raised in upstate New York, he completed his studies with a bachelor’s degree in plant science, as well as an associate’s degree in sustainable agriculture from the State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill.
Jon has years of commercial organic farming experience from managing certified organic farms in upstate New York: preparing beds, laying drip irrigation and weed guard, tilling rows for planting, planting from seed and transplants, and maintaining crops throughout the growing season. After growing vegetables and ornamentals in greenhouses and high tunnels, he recently decided to bring his experience to our farm in Hawaii where he is vested in adapting his style to our tropical microclimate.
He served in the Peace Corps as a volunteer in the Gambia, West Africa as an agriculture volunteer. Jon has proved to be an amazing team leader, and a powerhouse when it comes to sharing knowledge and getting your hands dirty.
His goal is to share in an interactive way and focus on establishing a sustainable lifestyle.
